Logline

When a low-budget indie film crew accidentally destroys a vacation rental, they have 48 hours to fix everything before the host arrives — and before anyone notices they were filming illegally.

Synopsis

Six filmmakers have rented a gorgeous mid-century house in Palm Springs under false pretenses and are 30 hours into a guerrilla 3-day shoot when the director's lead actor accidentally drives a golf cart through the living room wall. The owner is 48 hours away. The production assistant's uncle is apparently a contractor. There is no budget for any of this. THE RENTAL is a fast-paced ensemble farce about the specific desperation of low-budget filmmaking, in the tradition of Living in Oblivion and Noises Off. The script has been developed over three drafts with two readings at the Upright Citizens Brigade.
