Logline

After his children vanish and a vampire attack leaves him undead, 17th-century toymaker Nicholas Keller must resist his hunger for innocent blood to protect the children of his village, becoming the man the world will know as Santa Claus.

Synopsis

In a 17th-century European village, toymaker Nicholas Keller wakes to find his children, Klaus and Layla, missing. His wife, Laya, disappears the same night. Nicholas spends years searching for his family until a vampire attack leaves him for dead. When he claws his way out of his grave, he can hear the heartbeat of a rabbit across a field. He can smell its blood. A vampire named Vincent teaches Nicholas to fly, move faster than the eye can follow, and feed on men who prey on the helpless. But when Vincent offers him a child as his next meal, Nicholas drives a stake into his mentor’s chest. The coven comes after him, and the village’s vampire hunters are just as eager to put him in the ground. When Nicholas finally reunites with Laya, he discovers she’s already a vampire. Together, they find a way to protect the children they still can. Nicholas hunts those who prey on them and leaves handmade toys in homes where he’s invited inside. When people glimpse him flying after dark, Laya invents a story about a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. Families begin leaving milk and cookies as an invitation. In time, the world comes to know Nicholas and Laya Keller as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Every Christmas Eve, children leave out a plate for a man whose secret they’ll never know.
