A retired judge in rural Greece, tending his bees in studied isolation, is forced to reckon with his past when a young Albanian migrant crashes his truck and cannot leave for three days.
KOSTAS, 71, gave up the bench fifteen years ago after a ruling he has never discussed with anyone. He lives alone on a hillside near Thessaloniki, keeps eighty hives, and has achieved a condition he considers peace. ARTAN, 24, is driving a stolen refrigerator truck toward the German border when a blown tire puts the vehicle in a ditch at the edge of Kostas's property. The truck cannot be moved for three days. Artan cannot leave without it. What happens in those three days is the film. STILL LIFE WITH BEEKEEPER is a two-hander about guilt, judgment, and the specific mercy of being witnessed by someone who has no stake in your story.
