When her 85-year-old mother accidentally drinks an experimental youth serum and begins growing younger every day, a workaholic scientist races to stop the transformation while discovering the woman her mother was before motherhood.
What if you could turn back the clock on aging—but couldn't stop it? At 85 years old, Amor has lived a full life, but her greatest concern isn't her own mortality. It's her daughter, Marina, a brilliant but emotionally distant scientist who has devoted so much of her life to work that she's forgotten how to live. Amor longs to see Marina fall in love, start a family, and experience the happiness she believes her daughter deserves. When Marina accidentally leaves an experimental anti-aging serum among her mother's belongings, Amor mistakes it for medication and takes it. The following morning, something extraordinary happens: she wakes up five years younger. And the next day, another five years younger. As Marina desperately searches for a way to reverse the effects, Amor discovers the unexpected joys of reclaiming her youth. Soon, her mischievous best friend, Evelyn, gets hold of the serum, and the two elderly women find themselves reliving experiences they thought were lost forever. Their newfound vitality brings laughter, independence, and a renewed appetite for adventure—but their bodies continue growing younger at an alarming rate. Determined to make the most of their second chance, Amor and Evelyn impulsively travel to their native Philippines, leaving Marina scrambling to follow them. What begins as a frantic attempt to keep her mother under medical supervision becomes an extraordinary journey through family history, forgotten dreams, and the places that shaped Amor's life. As the women revisit childhood neighborhoods, schools, churches, and familiar streets, Marina discovers a side of her mother she has never truly known. Behind the familiar figure who raised her is a young girl who once had dreams, fears, friendships, and ambitions of her own. For Evelyn, the journey brings an unexpected reunion with Rudy, the man she loved decades earlier but left behind when she chose a different future in America. Now an elderly musician who performs nightly at Harana Cafe, Rudy has never forgotten her. When Evelyn, looking decades younger, joins him in singing a song from their past, he is struck by her uncanny resemblance to the woman he once loved. Unable to reveal her identity, Evelyn must confront the painful possibility that some opportunities cannot be recovered, even when youth returns. Meanwhile, Marina's scientific fascination gradually gives way to something more personal. As she watches her mother grow younger, their roles begin to reverse. The woman who once cared for Marina increasingly needs her daughter's protection, guidance, and unconditional love. But the miracle has a devastating flaw. The serum doesn't simply restore youth—it continues reversing the aging process without stopping. As Evelyn begins suffering dangerous complications and Amor approaches childhood, Marina faces an impossible scientific and emotional challenge: how do you save someone who is growing younger with every passing day? Blending heartfelt comedy, Filipino family culture, speculative science fiction, and deeply human drama, Mother My Mother explores the relationships between parents and children, the dreams we sacrifice, the love we leave unspoken, and the preciousness of time. At its heart is the story of a daughter who spent her life knowing her mother as a parent, only to discover the extraordinary woman who existed long before she was born. Because you can become young again—but you can never get your time back.
