Stage Script
Genre drama, thriller
An air traffic controller who has been awake for 22 hours must guide a pilot through an emergency landing — while concealing that she knows exactly why the plane is in trouble.
ANITA FORD, 44, is finishing a double shift at Denver TRACON when a small commercial aircraft declares an emergency at 12,000 feet. The pilot, CAPTAIN JAMES RHYS, 52, reports instrument failure and unusual handling. Anita knows what the problem is: the maintenance contractor who serviced the plane is her estranged brother, and she helped him get the job. LAST CALL is a contained two-hander, set in real time over 18 minutes, designed as a festival short with theatrical short release potential. The script has been developed with two active ATC professionals for technical authenticity.
