Logline

A high-end estate sale liquidator and the adult children of her latest client — a hoarder who turns out to have been quietly famous — fight over what her life was worth.

Synopsis

GRACE ABERNATHY, 52, has spent twenty-five years selling other people's lives. She is extremely good at it, deeply unsentimental, and privately convinced that the things we keep are more honest than the things we say. Her new client is the estate of DOROTHEA VANCE, an apparently unremarkable woman who died alone in a house packed floor to ceiling — and who, Grace discovers, was a significant but overlooked figure in 1970s feminist art. Dorothea's three adult children — each of whom had a different relationship with her absence — descend on the house. What follows is an argument about who gets to tell a woman's story and what she would have wanted to do with the ending. SECONDHAND is an ensemble drama-comedy with a fully attached cast and confirmed production start.
