Genre documentary, music
An intimate documentary following four singer-songwriters from vastly different backgrounds who were paired in a 10-day writing residency — and emerged with an album, a friendship, and a lot of unanswered questions.
In October 2023, the Banff Centre paired four songwriters — a Somali-Canadian hip-hop artist from Toronto, a Tejano folk singer from San Antonio, a Korean indie-pop composer from Seoul, and a bluegrass songwriter from Appalachia — in a cabin for 10 days with the instruction to make something together. FOUR WALLS, NO CEILING documents those 10 days and the year that followed: the album's recording, the tour, and what it meant (or didn't mean) to have made something across every line that usually keeps people apart. The album is done. The film needs post-production. The campaign covers the edit, color, sound mix, and festival strategy.
